MONDAYS
PreK- Grade 2
SALVI DALI AND THE PATH OF DREAMS
Theatrical exploration of sound and movement culminating in a self-written piece with words. We will engage in theatre warm-ups for body and voice, and play various theatre games in order to learn about creative collaboration and ensemble. Finally, we will create a piece based on the children’s book, Salvidor Dali and the Path of Dreams, written by Obiols, Illustrated by Subi. We would love to share this piece with parents at the end of our session! Instructor: Ruth Cataldo, PS295 parent
Grades K-3
YOGA
Yoga poses tone & straighten the body while keeping it strong & flexible. Yoga also engages children’s’ minds and imaginations, encouraging mindfulness & inner peacefulness. Children can learn how to use their breath to calm and restore themselves. Please dress appropriately for active play. Instructor: Ms. Ava (Heller)
Grades 1–5
SPORTS
Children are introduced to sportsmanship and the fundamentals of team sports such as basketball and soccer. They will develop the skills for lead up drills and games. Classes are active, and will sometimes take place outside, weather permitting, so please dress appropriately. Instructor: Fritz Innocent Jr.
TUESDAYS
PreK- Grade 2
DRUMMING
Come learn exciting drum rhythms from Cuba, Africa and Brazil ! Each student will have their very own set of bongos. We'll be doing lots of fun music games and activities with chants, movement and drumming. Also, we will make fun shakers in class for the kids to take home at the end of the year. Come one, come all!! Instructor: Elizabeth Pupo-Walker
PreK–Grade 2
FUN WITH MUSIC
Students will learn a variety of singing games, try out a variety of percussion instruments, make their own simple musical instruments including kazoos and straw oboes, and create musical accompaniments to stories culminating in a musical performance at the end of the session. Instructor: Johanna Henry
Grades 1–5
THE CURIOUS CHEF
Students will learn and explore cooking techniques from the basics to the more unusual. Lijah and Rebecca will focus teaching around cuisine from many cultures, such as sushi from Japan, dumplings from China, crepes from France... Learning, sharing and enjoying our creations will enhance the groups cooking know-how and grow curiosity about new foods and flavors. Instructors: Lijah Friedman & Rebecca Mitchell, PS295 parents NOTE: this class will have a maximum class size of 12 students.

DINOSAURS & COLOSSAL CRANES
Race pterodactyls, build buildings, make and fly hot air balloons, create drums, construct tree houses and much, much more in this class designed to use household and trash materials. In this class we will be able to recycle old egg crates, yarn, popsicle sticks, shoe boxes, tin foil, and just about anything else. This will be a fun and exciting way for kids to explore history and the creatures and structures that make our planet separate from all other planets in the galaxy. Instructor: Heather Foster
WEDNESDAYS
Pre-K–Grade 2
CREATIVE MOVEMENT
A movement class for youngsters that explores their personal expression through a variety of improvisation activities. Students learn to create dances, work in partners and small groups, and move through a range of dance elements all while developing strength and agility. The students experience a stimulating, fun and imaginative series of classes that introduce the fundamentals of dance in a way that nurtures a child’s imagination. Instructor: Ms. Ava (Heller)

MUSIC CLUB
Bob Goldberg recently worked with 295 students as a Brooklyn Conservatory Music Partner, and is known around Brooklyn as a composer, performer and music teacher. In Afterschool Music Club, we will sing, dance, play percussion, write songs, maybe even make some new instruments. Some of it will be serious, and some of it will be silly. And yes, there will be "Sandwiches". Instructor: Bob Goldberg

CLOWNING
This class is an exploration and building of a character/clown through a serious of excercises, involving: group collaboration, sound and movement, acting technique, comedy, costumes, and finally a red nose! Instructor: Ruth Cataldo, PS295 parent

PIANO
We are partnering with the Piano School of New York to offer small group piano classes. The students will learn basic music skills, develop a love for the piano, and absorb music theory and history, all the while enjoying the individualized attention created by small classes of 3–6 students. Keyboards will be provided for class time use. NOTE: Piano classes will be limited to a maximum of six students, and will cost $225.

There is no childcare from 3:05–4-30, your child can either enroll in an earlier afterschool class or come back to school at 4:30 after being dismissed at 3:05.
THURSDAYS

CAPOEIRA
Capoeira (capoeira Angola) is a non-violent Afro-Brazilian Martial Art. It includes dance, percussion, acrobatics and stunning kicks, foot sweeps, handstands, and cartwheels. It incorporates music and rhythm into a playful, active game. Please dress appropriately for active play. Instructor: Martin James, PS295 parent

QUILTING
Step by step, each child will learn about quilting while building their own quilted piece. Children will be choosing fabrics, designing a quilt, making blocks , sewing them together and finally batting the piece for a final work of art that they can use in their bed or hang on their wall. No sewing experience needed, just the desire to learn and a little focus. Instructor: Lijah Friedman, PS295 parent

GARDENING
With hands-on-gardening activities, this class shows the interconnectedness of all living things. While having fun, students learn the basics of gardening, & help to build a community of people who care about their environment! (Takes place at our GreenThumb school garden on Prospect Avenue between 5th & 6th Aves) Instructors: Susan Weseen & Taura McMeekin. PLEASE NOTE: This class will be 1.5 hours, & will cost $150. Students will walk to the garden after snack, then be dismissed from the garden at 5pm.
