General Information

PS295 AFTERSCHOOL ADVENTURERS – Information – Spring 2010

This parent-run program offers children a wide variety of instructional classes and recreational activities in a safe and caring environment, taught by our teachers, paras and parents. The program runs in three sessions (Fall, Winter, Spring).

WINTER TERM: Classes will run Monday–Thursday from January 4–March 26, 2009. There are no Friday classes this session. There will be no after school program classes during school holidays or half days.

REGISTRATION: Registration tables will be set up in the 19th street courtyard during morning drop-off  (8-8:45am) and afternoon pickup (2:30-3:30pm) on Monday-Friday, December 7–11. At that time, please turn in completed registration forms (in this packet) along with full payment to the registration tables. Enrollment is on a first come first served basis, so please sign up early.

We will make every effort to offer as many classes as we can, if we have enough enrollment to support the class. Please indicate on your registration form a 2nd choice of class or day.

HOURS
1st class: 3:05 – 4:30 p.m.
(Includes a free healthy snack). Children will be sent directly from their classroom at dismissal time to the program. Parent must pick up child at 4:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.
2nd class: 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. (There is no childcare from 3:05 to 4:30 p.m.)
You must pick up your child at 3:05 p.m. and bring him/her to the program at 4:30 p.m.
Both Classes: if your child is taking the 1st and 2nd class in one day, your child will be sent directly from his or her classroom at dismissal time to the program, and you will pick him/her up at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

NO EXTENDED HOURS. Parents or caretakers must be in the cafeteria by 4:30 or 5:30, depending on when their child’s class is over.  Do not be late. Instructors are required to stay with the students until they are picked up.  Families who are late for pick-up will be asked to leave the program without a refund.

FEES:  $130 for each class for the  session, except Piano, which is $225 for the session.

SCHOLARSHIPS: We will be offering scholarships for the Winter Session. If you would like to be considered, please fill out a Scholarship Application and turn it in when you register. Instructions are on the Application.

CANCELLATIONS: In the event of illness, classes may be cancelled.  You will be notified by telephone ASAP. You must provide a number where you can be reached, or where you check for messages frequently. If your child will not be attending after school classes due to cancellation, or because of personal reasons, you are responsible for arranging pickup with child’s classroom teacher, or making other pickup arrangements.

REFUNDS: No refunds will be given once the afterschool session starts. In the event that you wish to pull your child from a class before the end of the session, your payment will be forfeited. The success of this self-funded afterschool program depends entirely upon enrollment, so we cannot give any refunds once our session starts.
