The PS 295 Annual Appeal: Support Our Music Program!

At PS 295 we are fortunate to have strong arts programming as an integral part of our children’s education. Music education is known to enhance learning in all subject areas, and is a core part of our shared educational vision. In 2016 we received a generous grant for our music program, but next year, we will need to support this wonderful program with family donations.

We are asking all parents to donate to our school. While the DOE budget provides basic costs to run the school, the PTA provides an additional $300 per student or $150,000 each year that is used to support wonderful programs such as Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Fourth Grade Band and our Gardening and Wellness initiatives.



Our goal is to raise $50,000 or $100 per child with 100% participation. Whether you give $5, $50 or $500, every amount counts and helps us get to our goal. Donations are 100% tax deductible.

Give Online: make a one-time donation or set up a monthly payment with your credit card at Make sure to select your donation frequency option (one time or recurring) and designate your donation to the “2016 Annual Appeal” (write in). For corporate matching, provide company affiliation and company contact email.

Donate by Check: Place cash or check payable to PS295 PTA in return envelope. Please include “2016 Annual Appeal” in the memo line or on the envelope, and drop off in the PTA mailbox in the main office.

Employee Match: Find out if your company matches charitable donations.

Your financial donation is 100% tax deductible and may also be eligible for your employer’s charitable matching gift program (this raised a bunch of money for us in 2014-15). For donations received by December 31, 2016, you will receive written acknowledgement of your financial contribution by January 31, 2017. For donations received after December 31, 2016—a receipt will be sent out in the following year for the 2017 tax year.

PTA dues–please give what you can!

Unlike most schools, PS 295 does not require parents to pay dues to join our PTA. Membership is given automatically to every family in our school. We do ask for a voluntary annual donation of $20 per child to help support our activities. We’re grateful for anything you can donate–even if it’s just time and enthusiasm.

The PS 295 PTA is a charity recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS under Section 501(c)(3), so every dollar you donate can be deducted on your taxes! For donations under $250, your credit card statement or canceled check can serve as a receipt. For larger donations, or for any cash donations, you’ll need a more formal receipt from us to claim the write-off. Just email Joshua Goldstein and he can take care of it for you.
