Mission + Vision

Our Mission Statement: PS 295 The Studio School of Arts and Culture believes in a constructivist approach to education. We nurture proactive, joyful, and courageous learners. Each student regards mistakes as learning opportunities while pursuing their talents, solving problems, and developing self-control. We believe in the use of the arts as an avenue for students to engage as kind and responsible members of our community and the world.

We believe in a constructivist approach to education. We nurture proactive, joyful, and courageous learners.

  • We know our learners deeply and offer each child thoughtful and personalized resources to be successful in their education and find their voice in the world.
  • Because we are an intentionally small community school, no student or family is just a number. We find joy from getting to know and help everyone who walks through our doors.
  • Well-being and social emotional awareness are integral for our staff and students to build focus, attention, and confidence as learners.

We believe each student regards mistakes as learning opportunities while pursuing their talents, solving problems, and developing self-control.

  • From the moment each child arrives until they complete fifth grade, our school is celebrating the whole picture of who they are and building on their success every day and year to year.
  • Our teachers foster a love for learning through rigorous instruction in reading, writing, math, and social studies. In our 3K and PreK program, we use experiential learning and hands-on activities for discovery and play. In Grades K-5, we use rigorous curriculums that are adapted to empower and engage students in  learning both through  whole class, small groups, and individualized instructional approaches.
  • Learning is a two-way street. Our teachers partner with families in both our strong academic program and our social emotional learning initiatives. Every child can succeed when we work together.

We believe in the use of the arts as an avenue for students to engage as kind and responsible members of our community and the world.

  • Our curriculum incorporates the arts as a critical intersection of a child’s intellectual, physical, and emotional development.
  • We provide opportunities for every student to experience the arts through visual arts classes, STEAM instruction, and residences with community partners to provide dance and music, both in the classroom and in school-wide experiences with partner organizations.
  • We provide daily opportunities for physical education, movement breaks, and safe places for play both indoors and outdoors. Because every child deserves to build physical health, confidence, stress relief, social skills, emotional regulation, and imagination through play.
